Monsoon and Beyond is based on the core belief of creating something with love and care; something of value that shall inspire for a lifetime. It makes us proud to be able to say that all our products are hand-crafted *. They are created with incredible love for detail and care by artisans just like our Kamla and Anita (picture above). By incorporating traditional handicraft techniques, we help preserve culture and ancient art in India. By collaborating with craftsmen from various regions and ethnic backgrounds in India, we make a positive impact on the Indian artisan community as a whole.
THE BELOW ECO-LABELS SUM UP OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY:
We are committed to provide an ethical, healthy and - most of all - happy work environment for our artisans. We pay above-average salaries, we pay bonuses and raise salaries each year. It fills us with pride to see what positive impact this has on their lives, their families' lives and ultimately on the Indian artisan community as a whole.
All our products are hand-made*. They are personal, well-made, and above all they are created with love and care. The passion, creativity and love that go into the making of a handcrafted piece just cannot be compared to a mass-produced item. You can see and feel the difference.
We celebrate the rich traditional textile techniques that India has to offer. Many of our collections feature ancient crafts such as "Aari Embroidery", an extremely fine art of embroidery dated back from the 12th century as well as "Block-Printing", a labor intensive form of hand-printing that dates back as early as 2000 BC.
*UNESCO definition of artisan products: "Those produced by artisans, either completely by hand, or with the help of hand tools or even mechanical means, as long as the direct manual contribution of the artisan remains the most substantial component of the finished product."
